A Graduate With Honors
Newscenter 5's Anthony Everett brings a strong reputation to the evening newscast

Boston -- There probably isn't much open space on the walls of Anthony Everett's office. Since graduating from Tufts in 1983, Everett has climbed from his position as a sports reporter in Colorado to a permanent fixture behind Newscenter 5's news desk, picking up awards and accolades all along the way.

As one of Boston's "rising stars," WCVB-TV hopes Everett's strong reputation will help the ABC affiliate gain ground in the extremely competitive battle for ratings. If past performance is any indication, Everett will do just that.

In the last 10 years, Everett as amassed an impressive collection of honors. This year, he was named the "Best Newscaster" in Boston by the Improper Bostonian -- an award that followed on the heels of "Best Newscast" accolades for his news team at the National Headliner Awards.

In addition to several Emmy nominations, Everett also secured awards on five separate occasions for his work on news coverage and public education.

The Boston Herald praised Everett, calling him the best anchor in Channel 5's roster. "Everett has a commanding style, an easy way about him. And, most crucial, you have to believe him because he has credibility coupled with graciousness."

The Herald added, "He's so good, he could be network material."

   You can watch Everett on Boston's WCVB (channel 5) at 5 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 11 p.m.
