The newly renovated Cousens Gym opens with a bang. Take a behind-the-scenes look at the construction process.
Medford/Somerville, Mass. [09.29.09] On Sept. 18, the Tufts volleyball team christened the newly renovated Cousens Gymnasium with a 3-1 win over Wesleyan. But as fans filled the seats, did they wonder how the new facility became a reality?
Now, you can see the transformation for yourself by watching this time-lapse video of the construction process. The video was recorded from the last week of March through the first week of September.
Among the enhancements to the facility were rotating the court 90 degrees to lengthen it to NCAA standards, improving handicap accessibility, making repairs to the roof and lobby, renovating the restrooms and upgrading the sound system. [ Read the full story of the renovation ]

The renovation could not have been completed without the support of donors such as Steve Tisch (A'71), who in 2007 committed $10 million toward the expansion and renovation of Tufts' athletic and fitness facilities.
