A presidential candidate, an Emmy-nominated filmmaker and an assortment of eminent scholars came to campus.
Medford/Somerville, Mass. [11.03.08] There is so much that happens at Tufts that it can be hard to keep up. Check out this roundup of the past week of campus happenings. - Oct. 25: Lloyd N. Trefethen, fellow of the Royal Society and professor of numerical analysis at Oxford University, gave a talk entitled "Confessions of a Number Cruncher" as part of the Department of Mathematics' Norbert Wiener Lectures, held annually in honor of the 1909 Tufts graduate.
- Oct. 25: Third-party presidential candidate Ralph Nader came to the Medford/Somerville campus as part of a 21-stop, one-day tour of Massachusetts. Read more about his visit.
- Oct. 27: Michael Adas, the Abraham E. Voorhees professor of history and Board of Governors' chair at Rutgers, spoke as part of the semester-long Pearson Prentice Hall Seminar Series in Global History at Tufts, presented by the Boston Area Global History Consortium. Adas' area of study focuses on technology, material culture and religion.
- Oct. 29 and 30: Oct. 22 and 23: Alberto Mora, former General Counsel of the U.S. Navy, participated in an informal brown bag lunch conversation about "Terrorism and the Rule of Law" with the Tufts community as a part of a weekly speaker series on American foreign policy hosted by Ambassador John Shattuck through Tisch College.
