Photo Gallery: Tufts Raises UN Flag

Medford/Somerville, Mass. [10.24.01] Less than two weeks after the United Nations was awarded the Nobel Prize, U.N. Under-Secretary-General Alvaro de Soto raised the international organization's flag on Tufts' Medford/Somerville campus to commemorate United Nations Day. The event marked the first Boston-area celebrations of the day, and was the first time a UN flag was flown on any of Tufts' campuses. Organized by Fletcher School professor Alan Henrikson, the ceremonies included de Soto, Tufts President Lawrence S. Bacow, Fletcher School professor Ian Johnstone and Tufts chaplain Patricia Budd Kepler.
