Two
Tufts faces - a 1997 Tufts graduate and a Tufts senior - graced
the pages of major fashion magazines in October.
Medford/Somerville,
Mass. [10-16-02] For some members of the Tufts community,
recent issues of international best-sellers Cosmopolitan
and Seventeen Magazine may feature a couple of familiar
faces. Selected for special sections of the magazines, a 1997
Tufts graduate and
a Tufts senior each appeared in the major market glossies, which
are read by millions of people every month.
"Easton
native Michael Faradie is among 50 men featured in Cosmo's
upcoming 'All About Men' November issue," reported the Easton
Journal.
Faradie -
and 49 other men from around the nation - were each selected as
the representative for their home states. With a home in West
Hollywood, the Tufts graduate was picked as California's top guy.
A child
psychology major while at Tufts, Faradie is a rising actor
and model.
"Faradie
has appeared on 'All My Children' and 'The Bold and the Beautiful,'"
reported the Journal. "He is the lead in 'Voluspa,'
a fantasy adventure film which recently aired at the New York
film festival."
The Tufts
graduate says Cosmo may provide an important stepping stone
to advance his career.
"Right
now, acting is just a favorite hobby," he told Cosmo.
"But winning an Oscar is still a secret pipe dream of mine."
His appearance
in the magazine - which is the largest-selling young women's magazine
in the world - has already helped him out. The feature spurned
a series of scheduled TV appearances for Faradie, who was slated
to be a guest on "Regis and Kelly" as well as "Entertainment
Tonight."
"It
should be pretty cool," he told the Journal.
Faradie's
appearance isn't the first time this month that a member of the
Tufts community was featured in a major fashion publication.
According
to the Hartford Courant, Tufts senior Adair Ilyinsky -
and her younger sister Tory - were among 17 women selected by
Seventeen Magazine to model a winter coats by designers
including DKNY and Tommy Hilfiger.
"Seventeen
was seeking 'real girls,' not professional models, for a layout
featuring 74 of the coolest pieces of outerwear among 'cold weather
favorites,'" reported the Litchfield County Times.
The quantitative
economics major and art
history minor received the news of her selection this summer
while she was working at her internship for Coach
Leather.
