Grafton, Mass – Police dogs, birds
of prey, sheep sheering and close-up views of cells and parasites
were some of the sights visitors saw at the 16th annual Tufts University
School of Veterinary Medicine Open House on Saturday, September
18, 1999.
Held
at 200 Westboro Rd (Rt 30) in North Grafton, Mass., from 10:00 AM
until 3:00 PM, the event offered animal lovers, parents, children
and prospective students self-guided tours through the Henry and
Lois Foster Hospital for Small Animals and the Hospital for Large
Animals, as well as a variety of live animal demonstrations, including
both seeing-eye and rescue dogs, miniature horses, hawks, and bald
eagles.
For
the scientifically minded, exhibits and demonstrations featured
veterinary medical techniques, such as equine muscle therapy, the
horse treadmill, and canine abdominal ultra-sound. And for the more
festive and young-at-heart, there were wagon rides, a Teddy Bear
Clinic, farm animals and plenty of refreshments. The all-day event,
drew thousands of people from all over New England.
