Washington, DC.

On June 7, the White House announced that President Clinton will
nominate Tufts grad Richard Boucher as Secretary for Public Affairs
at the State Department. The announcement comes just one month after
Boucher took over as press spokesman for the State Department.
Boucher
is no stranger to the State Department -- he served as department
spokesperson between 1989 and 1993, before serving as the ambassador
to Cyprus. The Tufts graduate has amassed an impressive 23-year
career in foreign service – working in the Peace Corps, serving
as a consular officer in the Chinese city of Guangdong and consul
general in Hong Kong during the return of the territory to Chinese
control.
