Newspaper Wins Two Pulitzers
Sulzberger's
New York Times has earned more Pulitzers than any other news organization
New
York [04.17.01] -- When Pulitzer Prizes were awarded on Monday
for the 84th time, Arthur Sulzberger Jr.'s New York Times was
recognized twice, adding to the newspaper's enormous collection
of the prestigious awards.
Nominated
four times in 2001, The New York Times was awarded Pulitzers
for its national reporting on race in America and its beat reporting
on the Internal Revenue Service.
Sulzberger
-- a 1974 Tufts graduate and publisher of the Times --
and The New York Times are very familiar with Pulitzer
honors.
Since
1997 -- when Sulzberger took the top spot at the Times,
the newspaper has won eight Pulitzers and earned 15 nominations.
With
over 80 awards, Sulzberger's New York Times has more Pulitzer
Prizes than any other media organization.

Wins National Journalism Award
Tony Massarotti named Massachusetts Sportswriter of the Year
for his work with the Boston Herald
Boston
-- Tufts' Tony Massarotti, a Boston Herald sports writer
and 1984 Tufts graduate, is the best sportswriter in Massachusetts,
according to the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association.
Massarotti
became the first Herald sportswriter to win the prestigious
award since 1988, when 1949 Tufts graduate Tim Horgan was selected
for the honor.
According
to the Herald, Massarotti has been writing for the Boston
newspaper since 1989 and has covered baseball for the last seven
years.
Reports
the newspaper: "Tony Massarotti's peers have confirmed what Herald
readers have known for years: our baseball columnist is the
best sportswriter in Massachusetts."
