Tufts Breaks Ground on State-of-Art Wildlife Facility

No. Grafton, Mass. – In April, builders broke ground on the $2.5 million, 11,000-square-foot Bernice Barbour Wildlife Medical Building. Designed to conserve energy, the new facility will house a wildlife clinic, enlarged surgical and diagnostic facilities, a fully filtered pool for aquatic animals and an indoor ward for carnivores.

The Center for Conservation Medicine and two of the veterinary school's signature programs, including the Wildlife Medicine and International Veterinary Medicine will be brought together in the new center to foster collaboration on global health issues such as environmental degradation, infectious disease, antibiotic resistance and loss of biodiversity.
