West
Wing Producer Thanks Tufts Grad
Warner
Brothers' Peter Roth Called A "Knight In Shining Armor" During
Golden Globes
Los
Angeles [01.22.01] -- For the second time this year,
Warner
Brothers Exec Peter Roth -- a 1972 Tufts graduate -- was singled
out for his work and support for the award-winning television
series "West
Wing."
After
winning the Golden
Globe for Best Drama series, West Wing executive producer
Thomas Schlamme thanked several people key to the show's success,
including Roth, who heads Warner Brothers Television which helped
create and produce "West Wing" and Aaron Sorkin, the
show's creator.
Calling
supporters like Roth "knights in shining armor," Schlamme said:
"From the first day of the pilot, [Roth and others] have done
nothing but believe in us and support us."
Roth
received similar praise during the Emmy Awards in September of
2000. During that awards show, "West Wing" earned nine
awards, including "Outstanding Drama Series."
Tufts
graduates helped secure 11 Golden Globe nominations for last night's
broadcast, including seven of eight major television categories.
Earlier
this month, the work of another Tufts graduate earned a prime-time
award. Rob Burnett's "Ed" won a People's Choice Award for "Favorite
New TV Comedy Series." Burnett graduated from Tufts in 1984.
