Prunes
and Raisins Help Fight Cancer Boston
-- The reputation of prunes may be on the rise. Recent research
by Tufts and USDA scientists placed prunes and raisins atop a list
of the best cancer-fighting fruits. According to a British newspaper,
the Tufts scientists ranked prunes and other fruits based on their
ability to ward off specific illnesses, using a process to analyze
how effectively the fruits' antioxidants rid the blood stream of
cancer-promoting free radicals. Other antioxidant-rich fruits included blueberries, strawberries, plums, oranges, blackberries, red berries, and cherries. The recommended daily dose is six prunes or half a cup of berries to help thwart cancer. Online: http://www.tufts.edu/communications/printable/091400PrunesFightCancer |
