Tufts Alum Helps Bring
Marvel Comic Hero to Big Screen New York -- Dimension Films and Marval comics are teaming up to create the $75 million blockbuster "Ghost Rider," thanks in part to Cary Granat, President of Dimensions Films and Tufts graduate. Granat helped broker the first-ever joint venture between Dimension and Marvel Comics -- the creators of Spiderman and the Fantastic Four. The deal, announced earlier this month, marks the most expensive project in Dimension Film's history. According to the Daily Variety, the studio is trying to sign Johnny Depp to play motorcycle stuntman Johnny Blaze -- the film's lead character. The newspaper also reported that David Goyer will write the screenplay and Stephen Norrington will direct the film -- a duo best known for their hit film "Blade," which starred Wesley Snipes and Kris Kristopherson. Granat is no stranger to blockbuster films -- the 1990 Tufts graduate has also been involved in "Scary Movie," "Reindeer Games" and the upcoming "Scream 3" -- the third installment of the horror film turned box office smash.
