Meet The Newest Students From
Tufts University's Three Massachusetts Campuses

This week, thousands of students from around the world began a new stage in their college careers at Tufts. International, accomplished, and extremely motivated, the first-year students at Tufts' seven professional and graduate schools are an extremely talented group. Who are they? Here's a quick glance:

They are global:

  • The newest students at Tufts' Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy hail from 40 countries, including China, Italy and Thailand.

  • Among the entering class at Tufts' Fletcher School are eight returning Peace Corps volunteers, three Fulbright Scholars and three Muskie Fellows.

They are talented and motivated professionals:

  • What do new students want to learn at Tufts' Nutrition School?

"My interest in studying nutrition at Tufts is to add skills and knowledge to my six years of work in the Sudan," wrote a student from Kenya, who is enrolled in the Humanitarian Assistance program. "I want to get a clearer understanding on how sustainable food security can be achieved in a situation of perpetual conflict and deteriorating weather patterns."

"I wish to explore ways to foster equitable and environmentally sound agricultural practices that adequately meet the nutritional needs of communities in the developing world," wrote a student from Michigan enrolled in the Agriculture, Food and Environment program.

"A former college rower, I now compete in triathlons and hope to combine my interests of nutrition and sport," wrote a Nutrition Communications student from Massachusetts.

Did You Know...

  • That the new Dental School class has more women than any other in the school's history? (Over 48 percent of the students are female.)

  • That the average age of an incoming Fletcher School student is 27?
