"From modest beginnings, Tufts College grew to become the diverse and unique institution that it is today. With the expansion of its Medford/Somerville campus on the hill, the addition of its College of Engineering (formally) in 1898… the School of Medicine in 1893, the School of Dental Medicine in 1899, the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy in 1933 and the School of Nutrition Science and Policy in 1980… the Sackler School of Biomedical Research in 1980 and the Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1978. All of these fine schools trace their roots to the founding unit that we celebrate today, Tufts College, and to the vision, dedication, talent, and inspiration of the generations of Tufts students, faculty and staff who came before us.
