Tufts Alum and Honored Poet Dies at 88
“Double Jumbo” leaves behind distinguished career

Medford/Somerville, Mass. – Mildred Dodge Jeremy Ingalls, an honored poet and Tufts graduate, died last month at the age of 88. Best known as Dr. Jeremy Ingalls, she received both a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Tufts, before she became a Chinese, English literature, and creative writing professor.

   Dr. Ingalls’ work includes “The Metaphysical Sword,” which won the Yale Series of Younger Poets prize, in 1941.
