Grad's Comedy Series Wins People's Choice Honors Pasadena, Calif. -- "Ed," the new comedy series created by 1984 Tufts graduate Rob Burnett, won "Favorite New TV Comedy Series" at the 2001 People's Choice Awards. Burnett -- who is no stranger to industry accolades -- entered Sunday's awards show with three nominations for two of his shows, including two nominations for "Ed" and one for "Everybody Loves Raymond." Burnette co-created "Ed" under his WorldWide Pants production company, which produces the "Late Show with David Letterman," the "Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn," as well as several TV sitcoms. "West Wing," which was created with the help of Warner Brother executive and 1972 Tufts grad Peter Roth, earned a People's Choice nomination as well. With the awards season in full swing, the work of other Tufts graduates has been nominated for industry honors. Tufts alumni helped secure 11 nominations in the 58th annual Golden Globe Awards, including "Best Drama" and "Best Comedy." The nominations were spread across seven of the eight major television categories. Online: http://www.tufts.edu/communications/printerversion/010401AnimalEmotions |
